D rinking water may not always be everyone’s choice, but here are a reasons to consider:-
• It aids concentration.
• It helps with digestion by creating saliva.
• It supports the liver and detoxification process to elimate waste products.
• It helps transport oxygen throughout the body.
• Drink water slowly throughout allows the nutrients to be absorbed as opposed to taking big glugs of water.
• Reduce caffiene if consuming high amounts, as this is a diarectic and may cause dehydration.
How much?
Ideally aim for 1.5 – 2 litres of water per day.
In peri menopause/menopause, the requirements may go up to 2.5 litres a day to aid excess hormonal elimination.
Water ideas!
• Carry a water bottle with you, add in cucumer, rosemary or mint if you don’t like the taste a water alone.
• Keep a bottle of water in the fridge, and try didn’t vegetables, fruits and herbs to see what you like. Watermelon and Rosemary for instance compliment each other, or Lime and Mint. Have fun trying new flavours!
• Herbal/fruit teas can count towards your daily water intake.
